Font configuration problem (OS X is loading OS 9 fonts)

Hello,

I need some helpon how OSX manage fonts. To my knowledge, the OS is loading fonts located in:
- Library/Fonts
- System/Library/Fonts
- ~user/library/fonts

However, even after removing all my fonts from tyhe above folder, I stil had fonts loading in my applications. Some of these fonts were corrupted and I did not know from WHERE these fonts were coming...
Then I recognize a font I had in my previous OS9. By removing the font folder in my Classic folder and restarting, these fonts disappear!

My questions:
- how to instruct OS X not to load my fonts in the Classic folder and how is it possible??? When I want to start the Mac under Classic I must now first manually place the font folder back in the System Folder before restarting which is annoying...
- Are there other preferences or elements shared between 0S X and OS 9 ?
- Could this be due to a shareware software ? (I hade a friend using my computer for a while...)

Thanks,

Olivier

I know OSX loads OS9 fonts at startup. I can't see any way to avoid this.

PS: French ? Bienvenue (François/Grenoble)

I still do not understand why OS X should "automatically" load fonts from another OS ?
This is illogic...

Olivier,

OS X loads the OS 9 fonts that are located in the fonts folder inside the OS 9 system folder. I think if you remove the unwanted fonts from that fonts folder, OS X will not load them.

That said, if you ever use OS 9, it might need some of those OS 9 fonts.

Oh, it's not illogical. I have some OS 9 fonts that have not been made available for OS X. I need them. Apple at least allows me the ability to use them.

This is my problem, I am continously switching between the two OS.
I think I will make a script that will automatically put back the font folder in OS 9 System Folder then launch Classic... :)

I see.. I thought that conversion of fonts was not a problem.

Thanks Joe,
