Font Display in Word

When I choose the 'shadow' style for any font in MS Word X for Mac Service Release 1 on my G4 running OS X 10.2.6 I get a very different result than when I do the same thing on my PC at work. (The attachment shows what I mean)

Can anyone shed any light on this anomaly? It's very puzzling as the same problem does not happen when using MS PowerPoint on both platforms.

(On a related issue, why do the dingbat font characters in Wingdings 2 translate differently in Mac and PC?)

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

No, here it is! :D ;)

You have to make sure you click "Add file" before you click Done, and make sure it's a supported file type.

You can also edit a message and click "Manage Attachments" instead of making a new post.

As for the original issue, as soon as you figure out attachments I'll take a look at it. ;)

Well -- no deal!! It's a 252kb adobe acrobat file with a .pdf suffix which I can select and see at the 'choose a file' step - click 'add file' then 'done' but it doesn't show up anywhere from that point on. (Is there a size limt?)

Okay, here's how you do it, in Safari at least:
  1. On the Reply page (not the Quick Reply box, but the Reply to Thread page), click on the link that says "Manage Attachments."
  2. Click the button that says "Choose File."
  3. Find the file you want to use, and click "Choose."
  4. Click the button that says "Add This File."
  5. Finally, click "All Done."
Post, and you're set.

I'm not convinced! This is as I've done four times now with no joy. Am using Safari. At the 'choose file' point the file's icon appears in the bar next to that buton. When I then hit 'add this file' nothing more happens - zilcho! (should the icon not appear somewher on my reply?) and then 'all done' still no change and post and -- well, as you see, no file! Thanks for your patience! any more clues?

Yeah, make sure the file you're trying to attach ends in one of the suffixes listed, like jpg, pdf, etc. Otherwise it won't take the file.
