We have a mac running in classic mode for illustrator, indesign and photoshop. when we try to go to OSX and open a document made in the same illustrator version but in classic we get a message that one font is missing : HelveticaNueue thin ext . When in check my fonts in OSX the helvetica nueu thin ext is not there and when i try to install it right from the fonts folder of the classic fontbook doesn't give any errors but i cannot see the font in the list, is it possible that fontbook or OSX renames the font ? Also when i look in the /system/libary folder the font isn't there and when i check in the folder /username/library/fonts the font is there.

Has anyone any suggestions on what to check are on how to solve this problem?

what if you were to physically move the font into one of the font folders? I know you are not supposed to do that cuz it can confuse font book but it may work.

I have tried this out and this doesn't work , the strange thing is that the other helvetica nueue fonts does work does anybody know how i can check if a font is corrupt ?

I had this problem about a year ago...
If I remember rightly - OS X comes with a version of HelveticaNeue with just a few styles - one of the Mac OS X exclusive ".dfont" ones. This font is probably conflicting with the one that you want to be using. I've been using Suitcase and now with version X1 it is a very painless way of managing your fonts. Alternatively check out the "Removing excess fonts" thread at macosxhints.com if you want to be doing this stuff manually/with Font Book.
