Fontbook won't add fonts

Hello world!
A colleague of mine did Software Update and now he cannot add fonts to Fontbook. The default Collections are there and he can make his own New Collections, but no fonts can be added to the Collections.
Any ideas?

restart. sometimes font book goes crazy. I have issues with loging in and out and a restart always helps.
 
font book is a bit strange, this is true.

can you double click the font file to preview it in fontbook? At the bottom of the preview window there is an install font button, as opposed to dragging and dropping the font.
 
i had this problem when i Disabled a font and then trew it out of my Fontbook. Then some time later i tried to import it again, but FontBook won't let me to.
 
Have you verified and repaired permissions after that last update? Repairing permissions will correct those folders, etc that the system took over ownership.
 
yep, repair permissions.
in applications folder, there is a folder utilities. from there, open disk utility. in that, choose the hard drive, and click on repair permissions .. run it even twice if it takes very long the first time.
