Forcing apps to run in Classic

Is there any way to force a carbon application to run in Classic?
I'm having some problems with some of my Freehand documents because
of some Postscript font issues (like no support for multiple master fonts in X).
I'd like to be able to force Freehand 10 to start in Classic instead of
natively.

Thanks

Get Info on the Application file, then check the box which reads "Open in the Classic environment." Thereafter when you launch the application it will open in Classic.

I thought I had seen that there.

I guess the problem is that Freehand 10 isn't a Carbon application, as it's
been billed. I guess I'll have to boot into Mac OS 9 and install an OS 9
specific version.

Freehand 10 might in fact be a Carbon application but may be in a form that's not allowed to run under Classic (i.e., a Mach-O binary). There are good reasons for creating such binaries, and in fact Freehand may use portions of Mac OS X that aren't accessible to Classic applications.
