I have been considering El Gato's EyeTV hardware to use my iMac as a PVR, but I am not too excited about the encoding and compression "options" that device has. I've started looking at Formac's Studio DV/TV device & software. Although it is is around $200 more, it has better inputs and better encoding and compression options. I also like the option for converting analog camcorder video to digital.
MY QUESTION: How will it perform on my 500Mhz iMac G3? Has anyone used one on a similar system (or at all)? Can anyone advise me on the quality of Formac products? What are your suggestions between the Studio DV/TV and EyeTV?
