formating HD?

how can i format a laptop HD thru firewire, or any other way?

my ibook's screen won't come on, and my powerbook is the only one i can really use...besides my really old p3.

Boot your ibook into the target mode holding the 'T' key while booting. Plug your firewire cable to your powerbook and open Disk Utility. Mark the mounted firewire drive and use erase to format the disk of your ibook.
