Is there any way to make the damned AIM icon in the dock not skip and jump like a drugged out cat whenever I get an IM? I thought I saw an option for this in prefs, but can't find it again. It's annoying, and it seems to be slowing down my comp when it does it. Thanx Guys.

I hate flashing text and bouncing icons!!

So far, you can use Fire, or caim or gaim (other aim compatable applications).

Fire is good. If you have the Dev Tools, you should compile the newest build from CVS.
Adium is my favorite.
Proteus is okay. I just tried it briefly.

I only use AIM when someone insists on transferring an image or file over IM. I'd suggest dropping that bitch like a sack o' manure. Yet, it you must keep it, you should try Unsanity's Dock Detox which stops bouncing icons.
 
yea, get that little bouncy sucker off of your computer now!! use one that won't screw up your computer in the process.

i don't use it but i got adium for the family member who does and it worked great for him. never complained or asked me to try anything else.
 
thanks everyone. i've gone ahead and downloaded adium, and i'm amazed. It definetly BLOWS AIM out of the water. Thanks for all the help!
 
though i'm definitely hooked on Adium, i couldn't seem to get Dock Detox to do anything... I still use AIM now and again for filetransfer over my college network, since no one here can even spell Macintosh. But thanks for all the help guys!
 
oh no, the icon in adium works just fine... Adium's people were kind enough to give us the option of turning off that annoyance, unlike AOL....
