As we all know, Darwin is a hybrid of the Mach Kernal and FreeBSD 3.2.

Now, I am not a developer, but the most current version of FreeBSD is 4.2. Will this be a problem in the future for Mac users?

Apple (via W. Sanchez) has announced intent to keep Darwin synched with FreeBSD. No version problems.

Also: the apparent interest in Darwin in developers suggests Apple may succeed in effectively oursourcing the OS and just having a UI and API to market.
