Frequent kernel panics during email

I have had 4 kernel panics in the past 12 hours. I haven't had one before this since I bought this new mac last May. These kernel panics only occur when I check my email (mac mail). Never has happened before. I have a MAC OS X version 10.5.6. I haven't changed anything in the past week, are kernel panics related to fonts?

Thank you for any help.

For me it has been "Bad RAM." Though you should see kernal panics for other things that task you RAM.

To help the Gurus, go to Console and post what happened during your last kernel panic. They may be able to tell you what is failing.

Then, while you wait, boot up on your Installation Disk and run the long hardware test--see the FAQs and Search to learn how to do that.

Look for panic.log in your system. Spotlight should locate it - if it's the nice kind of kp, the file should be present. That should tell a bit more (in code but still) what happened. Test the hardware though.
