Frequently kernel panics with SMB connection.

Sometimes if I try to connect to a windows machine via SMB with Go/Connect to server menu, a kernel panic happens.

Also if a windows machine tries to connect to my mac.

I've already tried to reinstall OS X.
It happens both on a new PowerMac G4 dual with 10.2.3 and on a PowerBook G4 with 10.2.3.

I've modified etc/smb.conf in order to share some partitions and to get the same workgroup of the windows machines.
Anyway, kernel panic happens even if I don't make any change.

Why?
Is there any other change to be done in smb.conf in order to avoid this situation?

I've run into the same problem now and then. The kernel panic logs seem to point to smbfs.kext, so there's probably just a bug that will have to be fixed in a future update.

I haven't found any real solution yet, though the problem appears to have subsided lately. I'd be surprised if 10.2.4 didn't address the problem.
