Ok.. My friend asked me what would happen if he moved his Home out of the Users folder and removed the Users folder.
I said the computer would explode in a fury of rage and burning silicon. Or at least Kernel Panic or screw up a lot.
I said it's a Unix thing. Explained that Unix was made for Networks and that is why Users exists and told him Linux uses it too. He didn't believe me.
So he went ahead and moved it out of the folder and deleted Users.
I said Reboot and see what happens.
He said no. (He likes his uptime)
Then he logged off and came back on for a minute and then logged off again.
Haven't seen him since. Well, in 10 minutes.
So. I assume he rebooted.
So.. all you Unix savvy people, what DOES happen when you do try that? Will he get a big error? Will it KP? Will it know where the folder is?
What about other apps? Will they know?
