Ok, I have Mac OS X 10.3.9 Nothing is compatible with it anymore not even a new ipod. How can I upgrade or do I just have to buy a new Mac?

I know this is a power pc and the new ones are intel processors (and that's about all i know). Can I get a new processor put in for relatively cheap or does this cause all sorts of probs? (is it even possible)
I really havent a clue so please keep answers simple. Thanks in advance.

No,you cannot replace the processor. While it is possible to upgrade your current Mac somewhat it would not be a good idea as PPC support is being phased out.Your best bet would be to purchase a new or good used Intel Mac.You"ll be surprised how much better a Mac can be,I know I was.

Thanks for that.
So will I need new software (Adobe CS, Quark etc.) if I get a new one or will the stuff I have work on intel?

You can use your software if it is a"universal binary" and compatible with a newer Mac OS.If all the above mentioned software was purchased when you first bought your older mac,It is more than likely not compatible.

Intel version of OS X comes with Rosetta, a system that lets you run PPC programs. It is quite good: I have a program I use daily (TigerLaunch). It occurred me to check if there is any update for it. It turn out I had run PPC version of it without my knowledge.
