Fruitmenus going fruity and XSounds silent

I've been a big fan of Fruitmenus 2.5.1 (gives you something of the old Apple menu) and XSounds (gives you some of the old desktop sounds), but in 10.2.1 on my new G4 1 GHz DP, they are acting crazy. For Fruitmenus (newest version - 9/5/2002) the recent applications menu item is always empty and Running Applications causes the active application to crash - even system preferences! Then my system preferences icon in the dock was blank - the cursor still showed it as System Prefs, but it had no icon - even after a restart.

I wrote the developers for unistall advice (http://www.unsanity.com/), but I want this stuff of my Mac today (oh, did I tell you after system prefs crashed I could not drag any icons - even on the desktop). Each app has a prefs pane in /Library/PreferencePanes, but I remember it installed some kind of "Haxies manager" and I cannot find it. Any advice on wiping this stuff away for good (or until they get their act together)?
 
Well you could probably run the installer again and select uninstall, but I think the newer Unsanity stuff goes into ~/Library/Application Enhancers/ . You could probably just remove whatever you want from there and log out and back in.

If you want to talk to the Unsanity people, look on their site for Hotline info. Get Frogblast as a Hotline client.
 
Thanks - I think everything was in /Library/Application Enhancers and /Library/PreferncePanes. I really like these apps and hope they get them fixed up soon.
 
No prob. But FWIW, I have had no problems at all with FruitMenu 2.5.1. Actually, there was one. With the context menu option enabled in System Prefs, Open With would disappear from my Finder context menus. Weird. Unsanity is aware of the issue. So, unless you really use the FM context menus, make sure the context menu option is unchecked and logout and back in. Sorry if this has nothing to do with your problem. I don't have Xounds installed.

I also have tinker tools installed an transparent dock - who knows what is going on, but I am not giving up my transparent dock!!!:D How's that for being superficial - I would choose uselss fluff over a highly functional apple menu... Perhaps I should work for Apple!

I actually thought about the contextual menu option - I don't use it, but last night I just wanted my nice perfect computer back. I'll try just Fruitmenus again and see what hapens with contextual menus and other options, then add XSounds...
 
Oh, I forgot to mention this: the only time Open With would disappear was after I had gone to Connect To Server in the Finder.
 
FYI, after upgrading to 10.2.2 Fruitmenu works perfectly - no more problems like I had in 10.2 and 10.2.1 (Fruitmenu hasn't been updated since 9/5/2002). Since I never heard back from the FruitMenu people I guess they did something right and Apple didn't? Any way, it is so nice to have this back up and running - I tried EVERY other dock app, app launcher, menu item application, various folders in the dock... and for me, nothing beats Fruitmenu.
