FSCK failed---Help?

I have a dual 867 G4. OS 10.2.8 Computer will not start up, it just goes to the blue screen with ability to move the cursor. Safe mode boot goes to blue screen. Option key boot goes to blue screen.

I ran FSCK in single-user mode and it said the volume could not be repaired.

Then I did an Option+Command+p+r boot and it went to blue screen.
Then did another single user boot and the font size is twice the size as it was previously. Ran FSCK again and it still was not able to repair the volume.

Is it hopeless at this point? Any help is tremendously appreciated

Can it boot to the OS X Install CD/DVD?
Do you have anything like Disk Warrior to try for fixing?
Does target mode work? (If you would have another Mac with OS X could save the data at least).
Any unusual beeps in the beginning?
Have you done or noticed something unusual before this started to happen?

No OSX cd/dvd Install, the cd door wont open. Is their a way to manually open the door with out physically harming anything? I dont have disk warrior. Dont know what target mode is or how to boot into it. No unusual beeps. Today before I restarted when it was working, Safari would crash before a window would open. The only other thing I did before it wouldnt restart was get rid of 13 gigs of image files. Other than that, everything seemed normal.

I do have a Powerbook g4 with OS 10.3.9 that I could use to save data. Is target mode accessed by holding "t" during startup? Thanks for the info.

I got the cd door to open and tried to boot from OS10 cd holding "c" during boot and it seems to be stuck at the grey screen with apple logo and the ever spinning gear. Is it time to let a specialist fix it?

Hmm... looks like that.

Target mode is indeed with "t" key hold down after the startup chime, before it goes to gray screen etc. If it would boot magically to there, you could access the hard drive from the 10.3.9 Mac (plug them together via fiewire, while 10.2 is off - then switch it on, hear chime, hold down "t", if it goes to target mode you can see blue screen and firewire symbol movin around, and you can access the hard drive as if it was a firewire hard drive from 10.3.

Look like to me that your system is having problem. What I do is press "option" to boot up "startup mode" to see if it work or not.

Option key won't boot a machine, only give a choice of systems to choose to boot from.

Thanks guys. Yea, Im gonna see if I can pull off all my needed data and take it to the shop. I appreciate all your input
