FTP instead of Software Update?

Hi,

is there a way to download Apple released software updates via ftp or similar rather than via Software Update?
I have a 56kbs connection from my Mac at home and using Software Update will need a while to download, while I have faster connection at work and like to download to my laptop pc which I'll bring home. Any ideas?

I use software update at home on a 56k modem because that's what it's all designed for, and I would suggest you do the same, but.....
Apple usually posts their updates for ftp download within a week or so, so if you want to do it that way you will have to wait until it becomes available on their updates page.

I asked the same question a while ago and was told to go to

www.versiontracker.com

and you can download the updates from there (couple of weeks after the release date)

Apple also has a page which should make it easy to find updates.

Another thing .. you can use the Save As.. command in Software Update's file menu to save the packages instead of install them.

Obviously this isn't worth much unless your work machine needs the same updates as your home machine, but it works
