Just to add further info to my last question - I have done the update to 10.3.9. My mac will start up in Mac OS 9. When I put my original installer cd in (OS10.3), when I try to open disk utility, it gets to the point where it says "gathering disk information" and then spins continuously. When I tried to go further down the installer route it also spins away saying gathering info. which is really worrying because I thought my last resort was at least starting drom scratch and installing 10.3 again. help!
