FYI - potential Tiger glitch with router.
When I installed Tiger on my desktop G4, I lost internet service at all computers attached to my router.
Long story short, I did some detective work and figured it out.
During the Tiger install I did a fire wire connection between my laptop and the G4 to bring over files, apps, etc. In doing so one of the things that came over was the name of my laptop. This means that the router was receiving signals from two computers with the same name, so it freaked out and stopped working.
I changed the name of my G4 back to G4 instead of laptop (System Preferences>Sharing ), and now happiness prevails again.
Hope this saves someone many hours of hassle, barking up the router tree.
