When I visit some websites all of a sudden a ghostly window (the screen gets dull and three or four paragraphs in different languages show up) appears saying: "shut down your computer, keep your finger on button if you want to restart it..." well, something along those lines. the cursor is gone and I just shut it down. It happened with Home depot website and now is happening with aol.
What is it?
Thanks for any answer.

It happens with firefox and safari and yes, I have updated both . I just wonder if that window of white writing over the screen is something that other people has experienced. My computer has been working fine until this began to happen just few months ago.
Thanks for your answer.
I will try the page you sent

You were experiencing a kernel panic - see this for more info.

What's a "kernel panic"? (Mac OS X)
UNIX-style operating systems (such as Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, AIX, and A/UX) may experience a type of error called a "kernel panic," which may provide information useful for software developers.

A kernel panic is a type of error that occurs when the core (kernel) of an operating system receives an instruction in an unexpected format, or that it fails to handle properly. A kernel panic may also follow when the operating system is not able to recover from a different type of error. A kernel panic can be caused by damaged or incompatible software or, more rarely, damaged or incompatible hardware.

Have you installed any new hardware lately? Is is possible to try different RAM, or remove one stick and test the other?

Do you have Tiger, or Panther?

Thank you so much, that is exactly what it is and only with some websites and not all the time. Finally I know what it is!
