G3 updrading

my deepest appologies if this has been posted a billion times in the past, but I search and found nothing. Can a G3 iBook be upgraded to weild a superdrive somehow?

Well, the title of your post is a little misleading. It sounds like you're trying to upgrade the processor, not the media drive.

If you can extract the CD drive, you can probably find a Superdrive that will fit in the slot. Email Apple and ask them.

Probably the most painless way to achieve this is to buy an external firewire DVD-R drive.

Actually, the superdrive CAN be fit into the iBook g3 (the dual USB, which is the white model). You can't use iDVD, because it requires a G4 processor, but you can burn data DVD's.
