I've searched, but couldnt find my answer guys... Anyway, I've had my G4 for awhile now, and I stupidly started deleting files the other night b/c I kept getting the "Start-up disk is Full" msg. After I deleted everything, I tried to re-start, but now all I see is the grey apple in the middle of the screen. I can't seem to locate any of my disks that came with my comp. any help would be greatly appreciated please...

Thanks

It sounds like you somehow deleted some critical system files. You will need to dig out those system setup discs, because whatever files you've deleted will not be able to simply recreate themselves.

In addition to symphonix'es statements - your (once) existing account was that of an administrator.

As the administrator you are not able to delete the '/System/' folder and / or any of its contents - thus, not 'everything' was deleted.

As the administrator you are permitted to delete the '/Library/' folder and / or any of its contents. Deleting such items can and will make your MacOS X experience quite unpleasant - as you now know.

You did not state the specific model Mac you have; the size of the current hard disk drive, hdd; and, nor the MacOS X version.

Consider installing another hard disk drive. If the Mac is earlier than the 'mirror door drive', MDD model series the largest hdd you can install is 120 GB in size. Install a new hdd - setting it as a slave and install MacOS X on it (and optionally - on the originally installed hdd). Via the 'System Preferences' 'Startup Disk' utility you can determine which hdd to boot from.

I'm pretty computer-illiterate(?) and all I know is that I'm running Mac OS X 10.3.9 how do I check on the other stats if my comp wont get past the "apple" screen?
