G4 Doesn't always boot up

Sometimes when I start my G4 867 the power will turn on but the computer seem to have problems starting up. The screen stays blank my usb devices indicators flash and that's about as far as it goes. Then I can press the reset button and most of the time it will boot up as normal. Any guesses why I would have to do this?

Do you have the system disk jumpered to spin at power up? If improperly jumpered, they will spin up only upon access, this will cause an unnecessary delay. Could also be a lazy power supply. This would require carefull watching

is it a powermac? If so, did you recently upgrade your video card by any chance?

I kind of had the same problem. But I will not be able to help you. I would push the power button, I could heard power going through it, after about 3-4 seconds, it would shut back down. I would have to try 5 times before I got it to start up.
