G4 Freezes Running Quicktime 7 In Pro Tools 6.9.2

Hi,
I am running Pro Tools HD 6.9.2 in Tiger 10.4.2 on an AGP graphics G4 with a Sonnet 1.2 gig upgrade processor. My video card is the ati 128 rage 16 mb. I have 1.5 Gbs of ram installed.
When I am running Pro Tools without Quicktime 7.03 it runs fine.
When I use Quicktime it works for awhile, then starts to freeze more and more as the day goes on. Once it freezes, I can only reboot.
The video is in Cinepak format which is supposed to be less of a drain than the newer compressed version (H.264).
I also use Digidesign's Digibase browser to audition music files for the session. Can't tell if its the Quicktime, or the browser, or both.
Did not have this problem in OS 9.2.2 with Quicktime 6, although the digibase browser did not exist in that format.
Have also turned off spotlight and dashboard to help open up some cpu. Sleepmode is off.
Do I need a better Video card? It seems I've upgraded everything but that.
I would hate to go out and buy a new G5 just to playback Quicktime video in Pro Tools.
Hope you can help me solve this.
Thanks,
Ron
