I've recently acquired a mirror-door G4, running 10.4. Whilst playing a DVD the display went into the "spinning beach ball" mode, and nothing would free it, so I had to disconnect the power and reboot. It now shows a black screen with the words localhost:/root#. in the top left corner. I've tried one or two of the suggestions on your site but with no success, it just keeps coming up with the same message. The person I bought the G4 from had taken off all his personal files and applications, so it's pretty much an empty machine, nothing to retrieve or lose. What's the best way to p[roceed?
