I just started a new job and I'm working on a dual 2.5 G5. Right away I noticed that the fan was kicking on frequently and the computer seemed to be working harder at performing simple tasks than my (slower) G5 at my former job.
the other day I was resizing a window and the computer just clicked off. Totally shut down. I thought it was a fluke until it started happening more and more frequently, always during simple, non-processor intensive tasks.
Over the course of three days it has gotten so bad that it shuts down and when I turn it on, it shuts down again before the operating system has time to fully load.
A friend had me look at the logs and I get a PMU Forced Shutdow, cause = -122. Don't know what that means, or how to fix it. I called Apple support and they had me run disk utility and I get "Invalid Leaf Record Count (it should be 7 instead of 324)".
My question is this: does one of these things have to do with the other? and is the "Invalid Leaf Record Count" the cause for my computer shutdowns? Would running Disk Warrior or erasing and reformatting the HD take care of the problem.
