GAH! OSX 10.0 want to install "installer update" but volumes are dimmed

My advice is to give useful information when you ask for help. You have given no information about your version of MacOS X 10.0. You have given no information about the computer that you want to install it on.dave-dave said:

For example, if your machine shipped with MacOS X 10.1.3, you cannot install any version of MacOS X 10.0 or any version of MacOS X 10.1 older than MacOS X 10.1.3. You also have hardware issues. You should have at a rock bottom minimum 256 MB RAM and 6 GB HD. Much more is recommended.

There are also firmware updates that might need to be applied to the Mac before OS X is installed. Since you didn't specify the type of Mac, you'll have to check at the link below for yourself:
