When i open Garage band all i get is a message : error O Time out- timer inactive
Sometimes i feel like crying alone with this stubborn Mac

What do i do?
 
I have experienced the same issue on one of my client's machines. Not only that GarageBand times out, but also, AMS hangs. Finale gives an error about MIDI devices.

Looking through the error logs, I found that it was trying to access some sort of M-audio driver. After uninstalling the M-audio driver (the client had installed the Firewire solo drivers prior) and restarting, I was able to launch GarageBand without any errors. Reinstalling the correct drivers did not resucitate the problem.
