GarageBand 09 Serious Issues

I used to open up GarageBand 09 normally and it would take about 10-20 seconds. Now it takes a couple of minutes while it says its not responding. I dont think this is normal.
Also sometimes when im scrolling down through software instruments it randomly freezes and then shuts down unexpectedly.

Please any help here would be appreciated.

P.S. I have the new 13.3" 2.4ghz macbook. i have alot of free space and no files in the GB folder. I havent touched anything regarding the system's font, new or old.

Try the old Mac trick by deleting the Garage Band preferences in the folder /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist. Do that and then try to launch Garage Band again to see what happens.
