GarageBand not working w/ MIDI keyboard

Hi all,

I bought the TurtleBeach Voyetra USB/MIDI cable to hook my keyboard up to my MacBook. GarageBand recognizes that there is one MIDI connection, however it is still not responding to the keyboard.

Does anyone have any insight as to what the problem might be?

Thanks!

Have you configured your MIDI keyboard in the Audio/MIDI Setup application located in Applications-->Utilities? Have it detect for MIDI devices and for anything that wasn't detected, manually create a device and set up the MIDI connections.

For example, I'm using a Yamaha S08 synth and a M-AUDIO MIDI-to-USB interface to connect with GarageBand. I made sure to install the driver for the MIDI interfaceIn the Audio/MIDI Setup app, I had to have it detect MIDI devices and since it didn't detect the synth I had to manually create the object and make the MIDI connections from it to the object for the MIDI interface. I then tested and everything was good to go.

I hadn't tried to configure the MIDI keyboard, so that was a great suggestion. However, the strange thing is that the MIDI interface didn't come with a driver-- it claims that a driver is unnecessary for Mac OSX and up. The interface information is recognized by the computer, but when I try to "Test Setup" nothing happens.

Check the manufacturer's website and see if they have one. I thought the same of my M-AUDIO MIDISport USB 2x2 and I ended up having to download the driver from the site and installed it. After that, it worked fine.
