Garageband quandry?

Hi, I'm new here so bear with me!
I recently upgraded from panther to leopard on a mac powerbook G4,
everything went smoothly.
I had about 25 completed songs in panthers garageband (version 1.1 I think, very old anyway....)
I saved all the songs to a stick prior to the change.
when I installed leopard, the new version of garageband refused to recognise all but four of the songs, we're talking 12 months work here !
Is anyone aware of a way of converting the songs from the old version of garageband to the leopard version?
I can find no physical difference in the four songs that were reformatted automatically to the new file extension, to all the rest?
If anyone could solve this problem I would be eternally grateful !
thanks in advance.

Doublecheck the version of Garageband you have currently installed.
If it's still 1.1, it is rather old - nearly five years, which in software years makes it ancient.
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22046&vid=146580&mode=info lists also that GB 1.1 is listed to run in a supported way in Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3, something that Apple's details conveniently don't mention. (10.2.6 or greater.. isn't 10.5.6 greater?)
If that is the version of GB you have, I think you'll need to get a newer version.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The version I have is the latest from the latest i-life I bought when I bought leopard, so it's bang up to date. The problem seems to be in the new version not being able to recognise the old songs/ file extensions?
I followed your link and have downloaded garageband 1.1, I will try to install it and hopefully rescue my work.

Well, tried to install 1.1 and it seemed to install, but still no joy. I suspect it's just being overidden by the new version. It's getting to be a real pain in the a** this !
