GeForce4 Titanium is now BTO!

Damn... 128MB of VRAM... that's gotta be some schweet rendering capability right there, guys...

Ok -- here's a good question... I'm looking to spend about $2000 on a new Mac. I can get the 800MHz (no level 3 cache) with 1GB of RAM and the GF4Ti for just above $2000. Or I can get the 933MHz (+level 3 cache), Radeon, 512MB of RAM for just above $2000. (These are with an educational discount)

I bought a G4/400 Yikes! machine when they first came out and have been plenty satisfied but always yearning for more, and I'm wondering which machine out of the two above y'all would choose. Please help! Never have I had such a hard time deciding what to get! One would be kick-freaking-ass out of the box (the 800MHz) but the 933 has that blessed level 3 cache, which may help out a TON with what I do (LOTS of graphics, starting to edit video)...

If i were you id take the 933, 512 MB RAM is plenty, extra cache and Mhz definately better then a better gfx card and and extra 512MB RAM.

You can always add more RAM when it comes down in price again, althought its still not too bad at the moment.

It sucks that Apple removed the downgrade option from all it's machines when you CTO. This option allowed me to buy my G4/800DP with minimum RAM (128) and HD (40GB), buy these seperately elsewhere for half of what Apple wanted, and get the GeForce3 as a BTO at the time.

If you are doing a lot of digital video and graphics, the second processor will help you out tremendously. You may want to look at grabbing one the remaining G4/800DP that are still out there with huge discounts, and grabbing the GF4 kit when it comes out in March...
