Gift idea for three year old girl

My daughter is turning three in a few weeks and my wife and I aren't sure what we should buy her. We're looking for something cooler than barbie or a new dress.

My idea was a day of horseback riding. (We did that once before and it was really cool.) However, my wife wants something tangible for her to open. I want something memorable.

Any thoughts?

How about a pair of roller skates w/ the assorted safety equipment, could be something that entertains her for hours, and is easier that riding a bicycle, this all assumes that you have the time and space for her to play in. Good luck!
