"Global" Folder Window does not change Globally

Sogni

*gone*
I set my "Computer" folder to a specifiv icon view, specific icon size, and gave it a color for the background in the Global Properties...

Does this not also supposed to change _ALL_ folders throughout the system?
I double click on the OSX Hard drive - same look... I double-click in the Users folder - same look, double click into my user folder - different view...

Ok so maybe I thought it's just a diffrence between "system" and "user"...
the OS9 disk is using Global, the Firewire disk isn't...

I set my "home" folder to Global - but nothing within is set to global... grrr!!!

I go back to the "Computer" folder/OSX/System and it's not set to Global, but other sub-folders inside of OSX folder are....

So, anyone know of a quick way to set _ALL_ folders to global? It's driving me nuts! :P :D

Also, is there any way to set a different icon aragement for the desktop? Like change it to go accross the bottom, top or left side (with an option to reverse it to go from bottom up or right to left would be cool too) vs the "classic" mac icon arranegment?

Yeah, I know - time to start hacking the OS myself. :)

The same thing happens to me, everything gets reset when I logout as well. I don't think there is anything you can do about it (yet).

The reason they are not using the global properties you have set up is because you haven't told them to.

You can have a global set of properties set for windows, but even while you have that, the other windows can still have individual properties if you wish.

The problem is, Apple didn't include a necessary feature: a button that would make all windows inherit the global properties. Currently, you have to go through all of your folders, and click the "Global" radio button in order to make them behave. Note that you don't have to close and reopen the window. Just click in another window and then click on Global again -- it's kind of like the Inspector window.

I hope Apple will implement this, because it's annoying me too. But it usually does stick (as long as the invisible ".DS_Store" in that folder is owned by you -- something that also relates to the problem of icons being strewn around when you log out and log back in).

Hope this helps.
