Global Views

Has anyone noticed that if you have a global view setting in your root folder of your OS X partition, often times the Global View setting does not stick? Very annoying. It also sometimes happens with other folders too -- my Applications folder is doing it currently, and I really hate it!

Does anybody know how to fix this?

On a related note, does anyone know how to force all folders to use the Global View? Like maybe a way to copy the settings of a folder to all enclosing folders? That would be very handy.

I've submitted a comment to apple on this issue. I would encourage everyone who has the problem to do so as well.

Nuke the .DS_Store file in the directories you're having trouble with. I was having the same problem at the top level of my HD. What happened was .DS_Store was owned by root. Finder doesn't run as. It runs as the logged in user. So now your changes aren't saved for that directory.

I just went into terminal.app and removed the file.
