GMT Time?

Just wondering:

the clock at the bottom of the forum page indicates that the time zone displayed is GMT. Where in the heck is the GMT zone?
 
I know GMT means Greenwich Mean Time, but I'm not sure where it is. I think it's in England, but I'm probably wrong.
 
GMT is "Greenwich Mean Time"

Which, if I am not mistaken is in London, England, the Prime Meridian (zero longitude).

It's an international starting point for all time reference. (the official start of the day.)

The US actualy was involved in setting Greenwich as the starting point.

It was in the late 1800's (1884 or 1883?) International Convention.
