GNU-Darwing on a MacBook?

is it possible to install GNU-Darwin or any GNU OS on a MacBook (2GHz). I have Mac OS 10.4.1.

The GNU web sites have download and instructions for PowerPC only. Anyone can help? I want to run a copyleft/open source OS on my computer.

How about these?

Debian: http://www.debian.org
Fedora: http://fedoraproject.org

There are some "gotchas", especially related to booting and partitioning. I'd recommend the lengthy but informative wiki which Debian maintain specifically for Macbooks:

thx, I checked out debian.org but i'm not a programmer and i don't know about "compiling" all the component files and such. Any tips? Can i still install a GNU OS on my macbook without having to know all the complexities?

Is there a simple way to install debian for example?

Have you looked at Ubuntu? AFAIK, Ubuntu supports EFI. I believe that Debian "Lenny" supports it too, but I'm not 100% sure. Fedora should support EFI firmware systems as well.
