Good audio-file editing software?

I mostly need a program that will slowdown songs without altering the pitch. I used Transcribe! for a while but my trial period ran out and there's no way I'm paying $50 for it. I tried Slow Downer but as it was also a trial it only allowed me to play the first 1/4 of the song. Anyone know a solid, free, program?

Try Audacity. Free, open source, versatile, simple. If it doesn't do what you need right away, there's probably a plugin that would do it.

I swear by a shareware application called Amadeus. The support for the application is top notched and all the updates the last 2 years have been free.
