Good calendar and contact software?

I'm searching a good calendar and contact software a bit like iCal/Adressbook but without the limitations in these apps.

At least good SyncML support is required. And it shouldn't bring with it any frameworks or librarys.

And it shouldn't use any component provided by iCal, iSync or Addressbook as I'm just on the way to trash these applications and all the corresponding frameworks...

I am simply using PalmDesktop which is more powerful than iCal. It's available at

Don't know if it's free if you don't have a Palm but I can't recall having to enter my serial number when downloading. Also check the Business and Utility sections at versiontracker.com
