Hey, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Guest PC? I'm looking at it as an alternative to virtual pc mainly because its cheaper. I just need to run windows to download speed cam updates onto my sat nav at christmas and maybe run a few small apps (I have a windows 98 se cd, somewhere).

Basically I'm looking for reliability issues, speeds, general major problems people might of had with it before I pay for it.

Thanks for any help.

I'd go with VirtualPC. It's worth it. About the sat nav thing: Does that connect through USB? If so, I'd look for reports on the web on it working with an emulator before buying anything...

Yea it is USB, the only thing is it's a christmas present so I cant really test it yet. Also ! with virtual pc do you need a specific version of that to run my windows 98se ? Because this guest pc, apparently, runs all Windows distros from 95 on, from what I remember.

I have Guest PC, rushed in and bought it after reading a few decent reviews but...it does not support USB. It took a lot of searching on their site and it is mentioned in an FAQ somewhere. It now sits idle on my hd.

VirtualPC runs just about any x86 operating system -- Linux, Windows, Darwin for Intel, etc.

I've run Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP successfully under VirtualPC 7.

VirtualPC 7 also has support for USB devices, so I think it will support your USB satellite nav thingy -- as long as a true Windows computer with USB will support it, I think VirtualPC will as well... that's not a guarantee, though! ;)
