Hard Disk Space

I am currently operating a Mac dual 1GHz running 10.4.11. I have a 80 GB hard drive. I am getting 'lack of space' warnings that say there is only less than a MB of hard drive available yet when I run through system information my total useage is under 40 GB and I have no partitions. I can't even save a Word document. Can anyone help me?

Obviously, something is eating your drive space, most of the time an application/InputManager/haxie not really ready for 10.4.11 and sendind tons of error messages to the system (logfile). Internet connection problems (DSL) can also be responsible for a huge volume of error messages
First thing to do, is to free space to let the system breathes: do it or you system will be unsusable in a few hours
Then, I would download Whatsize
http://the.taoofmac.com/space/apps/WhatSize
Use this freeware to manually browse your system (yes, I know, manually, can be long, but...) and track huge files.

I would also use some free tools like Cocktail or Onyx to clean caches.
