hard drive missing on desktop

Hi,

I accidentally "hid" my hard drive. i managed to put an alias on my desktop but its not the same as the original. How do i restore my original hard drive on my desktop?

Hold, you can actually access your HD? It is not "gone" as in "not working?"

From the "Finder" menu, select "Preferences" and then ensure that "Hard disks" has a checkmark next to it.

If it does, just uncheck it and recheck it and that should restore the icon.
