Has anyone tried BSD builds of any major RDBMS?

I am curious if anyone has tried to install an RDBMS built for BSD
on OSX....I have been thinking about it and just have not rounded up
an Oracle or Informix to try.

I know a very senior engineer at IBM who dearly wants a business reason to
create a port of Informix to OS X (heck, I do too).

Just because it is built for BSD doesn't mean it will run on OS X. What architecture is it compiled for? If it is compiled for the PC, you will never get it to run natively on OS X, unless you have the source and can recompile the entire RDBMS package.
