Hash tables full

Hi Gurus

I have been doing quite well with OSX for awhile but now stumped!

I have tried to boot in single user mode and use the fsck -f (in Panther) command to check and fix hard drives. I get a return to the command that the hash tables are full, 16 of them, and cannot proceed. What can I do now? Have tried MacJanitor and Cocktail without any progress either, and the hard drives are starting to act flaky... One of them won't allow me to copy over some files less than 100 MB, saying disc is full in the Finder, despite the fact that 5 GB are left...

Confused and looking for help!

cheers

5GB are left from what size drive. You should have at mininum 15% of free drive space.

Okay Bob, it is a 320 GB drive... that is the problem there anyway, but the hash tables ?? hmm...

thanks!

You should have a at least 48GB free, preferrably 64GB.

Open Terminal and type;

man hash

for a description
