Have any of you ever used MySQL4x manager?

Hello, I have been looking at MySQL4x manager and downloaded the trial - so far it seems pretty good. Does anybody have any experiences of using this GUI? Which particular product did you use? How did you rate it?

ive always wanted to use a standalone db manager...ive been using phpmyadmin for years and love it.... let us know what you think about it....are relational dbs easy to set up/use with it?
 
Not too sure yet as I haven't really had a good chance to play around with it. I really like the interface though and it is much quicker than my usual process of working via the terminal. Try downloading the trial and see what you think I'd be interested to know your opinion also.

I also noticed that there's a version designed specifically for web development but there's quite a large price increase for it. I'm not quite sure what additional features you would get to justify the fee, at first glance just the MySQL4x standard edition would probably be the ticket.

looks very complete - especially after demetalifizing ;), and there are lots of features that are probably useful to a developer (php export for example or the external key managers). Also sweet that it supports so many different db servers

It is probably worth the 50 - 90 bucks to someone who develops php or who has to use various different databases, but until now I just set up mysql accounts for pre-configured php front ends.

If you need the power of 4X, go for it. If you want to have a stand-alone replacement for phpmyadmin, try cocoamysql which is freeware. (I think it's from serverlogistics)
 
I've used it and it seems nice. Check out the demo and see if you like it. :) (or do i just use the viewer.... humm)

That sounds good, I never noticed these. Which MySQL4x product did you find these on?

On sql4xmanager j from your original post. I just d/led the demo and fished around in it.

managing external keys (forcing integrity?) is accessed by selecting a table and clicking on key layout in the bottom half of the window.

php and js code builder is on the top toolbar, the last icon on the right.

I say, the thing looks very sweet for someone who will use it, but for my needs it is way too expensive, especially with other free alternatives out there.
 
Ah, it was because I was using the basic MySQL4x Manager and it doesn't have them facilities, it's just the J version that does. I've also been having a mess around with CocoaMySQL which you use and I really like it. However, is there a way of joining the various tables together using foreign keys etc? If not, how do you join the tables? Do you have to use the command line via the terminal?
