Have to double click

Snow Leopard is causing me problems.
1. In safari I get a DNS error when I click to open a link in a new tab. If I then click Reload it opens just fine.
2. In my chosen word processor, Mellel, I have to click the style sheet keyboard commands twice. The first time there in only a beep, but it works perfectly on the second click.

This only started after upgrading to Snow Leopard.

Open System Preferences->Network, "Advanced" button. In the pop-down select the DNS tab. In there do you have any DNs entries? If you don't then in the DNS tab just select the first blank entry and hit the - button and it should then get a DNS record from your ISP.

That private address means you are getting your DNS from your router. Take a look at your router and put in the settings it for OpenDNS.com.

To reset your Mac's DNS cache in 10.5 or later) just open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and paste in the code:
Code:
dscacheutil -flushcache

Wait for another Terminal prompt come up and it the flush of the DNS cache will be complete.

Lastly also put in the OpenDNS settings in your Mac so you will be using it will you travel. It will speed up your browsing (it did for me and my friends) even if you are using a high speed connector. Plus if you setup a free account (instructional video) you will be able to block most any site you want, including known phishing sites and never have to worry about Phishing attacks again, even for Windows & Linux too.
