HD enclosure problem

Hello OSX wizards,

OSX will not read an HD enclosure with a disk that has OS9 on it!

My mother bought herself an HD enclosure kit from OWC. She wants to use it for a 6gig HD (with OS9) from her old 266mhz iMac. However, OSX does not recognise the drive so that even Disk Utility couldn't partition, copy, format or even erase it. Even her WinDozer wouldn't recognise the drive.
  1. It did work with an empty HD formatted with OSX Disk Utils
  2. But as soon as OS9 is installed (via CD) it is no longer recognised
  3. Do I have to make a disk image of the OS9 HD and copy it to a disk formated by OSX disk utils?
I am using 10.2.8 on a 350mhz G3 B/W
Mother has 10.4.x Flatt Panel iMac G5l

enclosure kit is:
MacMini Stackable Combo

Thanx!

Step 3 sounds good to me. Worth a shot and would require limited time investment.

You might also need to install 9 first then install X on it.

Thx;

@ least smne rplyd.

For anyone experiencing this problem, it turns out that the disk I was using was damaged.

The other drive worked just fine with OS9 on it after I set the jumpers right.
