Headphone sound and FN Key

Hey guys.

I recently installed Windows 7 in the bootcamp in the Macbook Pro so I can run games, Windows apps and such in it.

For some reason my heaphones simply won't work when I'm running Windows on bootcamp. I've tried downloading one of those realtek sound drivers, but it doesn't seem to have any effect in the system whatsoever (not even the bloody panel thingy that is meant to pop up didn't). Noting also that I couldn't download from the actual Realtek website, as all their links seem to be broken (stupid).

Also, I can't figure out how to disable the damn FN key when running Windows 7 on Bootcamp. On Mac OSx I managed easy enough, but for some reason I can't figure it out on Windows.

Would anyone be able to assist me here?

Does anyone at least have an idea of how might I be able to solve this problem? ANYTHING will help here. Please?

Can you explain what's wrong with your fn key? Is it not responding when you press it?
What does the fn key do when you are booted to Windows?

Do the internal speakers continue to work when you plug in your headphones? Or, do the speakers cut off, and you still get no headphones.

There's nothing wrong with the FN key. What I want to do is to disable it while running Windows 7 on bootcamp in order to restore the original F1,F2... functions, and not have to keep pressing FN + F1,F2... in order to have them.

The speakers cease to work as soon as I plug the headphones in, but the headphones don't work either (despite the device being recognised in the sound tab in control panel). I wish to make the heaphones work somehow.

Is there any change if you reinstall the Boot Camp drivers?

The WIndows drivers are on your Snow Leopard installer DVD.

Have you verified the headphones by trying a different set?

No changes really took place after reinstalling it. It came to my attention there is a realtek driver in the actual Mac DVD, which also didn't trigger any changes nor did it solve my problem. It recognised the device, it shows the heaphone and all, but no sound will come out of it. I honestly haven't a clue at this stage anymore of how should I go about this.

The headset is in perfect condition. It is brand new and works without a problem on Mac OSx Leopard. My problem is that it won't equally work on Windows 7 running on Bootcamp.

Also, about the FN key, I need to DISABLE it. That is to say, I want to be able to press all the F buttons (F1, F2.....) and have their original function, without really having to press FN first in order to get them. Noting that it also applies for Windows 7 on Bootcamp. I managed to the same in the OSx without, but I also need it done in Windows.

Is there anything in your Boot Camp control panel (when you are booted to Windows) that changes settings for the keyboard? If not, you may need to look for some kind of remapping software for Windows.

Does that affect your headphones at all?

There is indeed a box you tick in the Bootcamp Control Panel for enable to former F buttons functions which never took me to have a peek at. Thanks for that! Indeed very helpful!

Now, with regards to the update, if seems to correct the exact issue I'm trying to solve. Be that as it may, I looked it up in both the download page (http://support.apple.com/downloads/) and in the Bootcamp page (http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/). I tried downloading http://support.apple.com/kb/DL996, only to realise it is the same bootcamp version that comes along with the DVD. My point being, I couldn't find a link for that particular update yet.

The update (if it applies to your particular Mac) should be available if you try the Apple software update app, while you are booted to Windows.
Is that the MacBook that you have (the newest 2010 model?)
