HELP! anyone knows how to setup DNS

Someone told me that a network can be verry slow if you do not edit the dns-settings.
But how do i do that??
he told me that can be done with a text editor.
 
Depending on your setup, you might have to edit the network properties in the system preferences. If you're using a dialup connection, you should be getting the dns server info automatically when you connect. If you're using DHCP, you should also be getting the information automatically. If you're not getting the information, then no host names would work, and you wouldn't be able to surf the internet with anything other then IP addresses.
