Help cant format hd!

Can some one please help me! I recently installed a new WD 320 HD into my powerbook G4 1.5 GHz that has been sitting in my room for about a year. I also installed 1 gig of additional memory. When I try to install OSX, I cant because there isnt a destination to instal the program. I went to disk utilities and I can see the HD but what do I need to do so that my mac will recognize it? Please help! A Newbie

It seems that your drive probably has not been partitioned yet.
