Help: connecting to Windows fileshare

I've connected sucessfully to a win2k box from OSX using the following:

smb://workgroup;computername/fileshare

but when i try to connect to a windows server that uses a Domain instead of a Workgroup, I don't have any luck. someone suggested I substitute the Workgroup or Domain with the ip address of the box. but I cannot find the lan ip of the server! where is it, and if not the above solution, what should I try?

You would put the IP address in in place of both workgroup and computer name, like so:

smb://123.45.67.89/sharedrive

If you have access to the windows server, or can ask your net administrator, then you can just plug in the IP address. Otherwise, you can use a PC connected to the network, find the fileserver you want in Network neighbourhood, right-click and bring up properties, and that should give you the IP address.
